Great article 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 🙏🏼

China seems to have a iron grip on rare earths. What’s to keep them using this dominance as leverage to get what it wants?

Thanks Brian. Nothing stops them, and they have already done it twice.

April 2025 was the demonstration: controls on seven heavy rare earths including dysprosium and terbium. Those are still in force and were never part of any truce. October was the escalation, and that second wave is what got suspended until November 10.

So the leverage is not potential. It has been used and then partly withdrawn as a bargaining chip, which is a smarter demonstration than simply cutting supply.
