It has always been painfully clear that he was/is far, far worse than Biden ever was when he was being crucified daily in RW media. . Anyone with eyes and ears could see it. Plus, trump is ignorant(being kind) of world culture outside of his own sphere, knows not even the history of the US, much less the world, has no diplomatic skill at all and, worst of all is, that he has no interest in educating himself about any of it.

Yeah, Trump is a lousy President but that is a political judgement, not a medical judgement. Trump remains very active for an 80 year old guy.

Waving to nobody, calling allies the wrong names, and losing the thread mid-sentence aren’t political complaints. They’re observations of function. Nobody here diagnosed him. My piece documents behavior on camera. "Very active" is what you say about a guy who golfs, not one with the nuclear codes.

There is no evidence that Trump is medically unfit to be President. As you suggest, that would require a diagnosis. Trump has access to excellent medical care. If the folks at Walter Reed find a problem, then you'll have reason for concern. A diagnosis of dementia, for example, would require his replacement by Vance.

The White House physician works for the patient. Reagan’s staff hid his decline, Biden’s did too, and this year’s “perfect cognitive exam” memo didn’t name the test. Waiting for Walter Reed to volunteer a dementia diagnosis of the man who employs them is waiting forever. Voters get video, so we watch the video.

Maybe YOU need a mental exam. The amount if pharmaceuticals he consumes just to get up in the morning, let alone do anything would bury a lot of people. If he were joe sixpack, he’d been long long gone.

That was a great piece of writing. Depressing, but great.

The waving to no one is not new, a couple of years ago I watched a video on YouTube of him coming out of his building after talking to someone at a desk in reception then walking out the door and stopping to wave at people and the camera was turned to where his was waving to show not one person was on the street, it was totally deserted. I think the video was by either the meidas touch network or David packman

Trump is an 80 year old man with normal age related deterioration. His behavior is normal (for him) and unless there is a sudden, negative event, he should be able to serve out his existing term as President.

Tom Wellborn's avatar

"Normal for him” is carrying your whole comment. The man waved to an empty lawn. Normal 80-year-olds aren’t commander in chief, and we spent 2024 agreeing age-related decline disqualifies a president. Either that standard exists or it doesn’t. Pick one and keep it.

Bob Smith's avatar

Actually normal 80 year olds have been our last two commanders in chief. As I recall, Biden finished out his term as President without incident.

Tom Wellborn's avatar

Biden left at 82 after his own party pushed him off the ticket over exactly this. That's the opposite of "without incident." You've now argued decline is fine because the last guy had it too. That's two data points for a maximum age, not a defense of either man.

Biden's party chose to replace him as a candidate for the 2024 election. His party didn't choose to remove him from office. I do agree that we should set a maximum age for Presidential candidates.

Quite the maga apologist, eh, Bob? Or is it “bot bob?”

That’s why he think he’s pulling crowds of people, because that’s what he sees.
