Seven Senate seats flipped and the House with them, on record gas prices, a 38 percent president and a war voters called wrong. The money lost. The files are coming. He said he'd accept it.
I have to admit that I'm mildly gratified to have been proven wrong in my pre-election predictions regarding voter turnout.
Don't get ahead of yourselves, though. Even with 55% of the registered voters coming out to vote, that is NOT a convincing mandate. Do the math.
So, there were 55% of the voters who came out and voted. The winners earned 55% of the polled votes. Break out the calculator, and you will see that means that roughly 28% of ALL of the voters are in favor of the changes.
If you're calling the approval of 28% of the eligible voters a mandate, you need something that almost nobody can give you.
Take the win, because you DO have one. Just don't overestimate the power you may have gained.
You still do not have enough of a majority to push through an impeachment. You still do not have enough of a majority to override a Presidential veto.
Work for what you CAN do. Call for hearings. Call for testimony. Order the Justice Department to release the files. Good luck on that last, though. What will you do if the Justice Department thumbs their nose at Congressional subpoenas? Who will enforce them?
I'm not trying to be a downer. I'm just trying to keep it REAL.
"Take the win, because you DO have one. Just don't overestimate the power you may have gained."
Trump made this mistake. He thought that his decisive win meant that he had virtually unlimited power. And especially so given his narcissistic personality. More perceived power means more arrogance means more overreach means more bad decisions means more resulting disillusionment and anger means the pendulum swings back - with a vengeance. And then you realize that you really didn't have nearly as much power as you thought and have lost almost everything.
The Democrats would be well advised to remember this lesson.
Celebrate the symbolism of the United States’ election outcomes but beware the Project 2025’s Heritage Foundation Alum who are still lurking behind the ballroom curtains:
These names should be emblazoned so that EVERY person remembers. All of these miscreants should be held accountable, along with Hegseth, Patel, Blanche, etc.. There needs to be a trial of the Nuremberg proportions for all the Crimes Against Humanity that these and their cohorts have perpetrated. The world needs to see and bear witness to American Justice!
Trump congrating the Dems has a rotten smell to me.. He's gonna do something evil. That speech is there to lull Dems into complaceny. Rebel on, watch our backs, and don't relax until the last one is duly sworn in. Don't trust him, never will.
