Sitting with this one right now. Like all of his writings, this deserves a careful read and probably a second one. It reminds me of the show Pluribus (of which I admit I have only seen a couple of episodes, soon to be remedied), where only one person retains the ability to choose her thoughts and emotions and the rest share consciousness. The world is peaceful, but at what cost to the human experience? Of course I wish all humans functioned with their empathy switch turned on at all times. As he writes, it is easy to be cruel at a distance or to people “sufficiently unlike or sufficiently inconvenient.” But kindness is more impactful when it is a choice. Anyway, lots to chew on in this one! Masterful. (Have you considered turning this into a novel?)

Thank you. I have not. If only I had the patience to write a novel :)

Just seems like the outline for a cool and thought-provoking sci-fi-ish book. From the perspective of the lone dissenter. Anyhoo your imagination and analyses are impressive. Thanks

This is brilliant, Tom!

I can logically and empathetically (spiritual oneness) see the entire discussion and the obvious reason to dissent.

There have been numerous human claims that a "council" of ET members, from different species and different points in the Galaxy, actually have discussions like this.

I totally agree that those claims have resonance that I identify with.

Humans as we are, can be totally unaware that our consciousness is universal, instead of specific to some 'birth-right" setting.

Many billions of human lives over the course of 3.6 billion years have totally missed what was inherent to them from birth: Empathy for others.

I love this writing from that position because I have felt like I was supposed to recognize that capability in myself in order to love others as myself...and I did.

That happened because of my personal experience at the age of 10.

It's a long personal story that isn't appropriate here because the point is not all about me...it's about ALL of US!.

And to know that our human species is sincerely but obviously primitive on so many levels and measures of our conscious decisions, every day, every year for our entire life expectancy, makes me very sad and heartbroken, but also very grateful that I am able to recognize it at the same time!

Anyway, this is a brilliant piece that is inspiring to me...even if "we don't make it" as a species because of our own doing (karma).

Thank you Tom!

This is a marvelous narrative treatment of the other-worldly Council considering whether or not the, “jars” which have been blessed with the gift of life and received consciousness on the container known as, “Earth” will ultimately change from the current path towards destroying their own container and save the consciousness that resides within the jars.

It is clear that the success or failure which the Council has been monitoring and aiding in their own fashion is of importance to them.

What happens here on Earth for good or ill must have an unknown impact on the beings that comprise the Council which we cannot understand or comprehend.

The speaker advocates showing the entire container what is at stake which has never been done although visitations, examinations and data about individual jars has been performed for many centuries.

I equate the speaker to be an advocate for the existence of mankind with all of our contradictions in our current state while noting the 28% of us who, “jump on a grenade” to save the lives of others.

The speaker notes that so many have drowned trying to save one in mortal danger that death by drowning in the process is not considered unusual.

The other side of the discussion is the global destruction in all its many forms that is putting the survival of the container in its current form in serious jeopardy.

AND TIME IS GROWING SHORT before the damage is irreversible!

Making the ultimate sacrifice while trying to save the life of a stranger speaks to the higher consciousness which is present in the jars. Presumably, “the switch” in those jars was indeed, “On.”

“It is a far better thing I do than I have ever done. It is a far better rest I go to than I have ever known.”

This is a masterly overview of an august Extra-Terrestrial Council which has monitored our planet since before the dawn of man.

They have an interest in the fate of, “the largest container” they have ever produced, and are confronted with the moral decision whether they must fundamentally alter the jars in order to preserve the container and save the jars in the process.

And if, by doing so, the greatest qualities that the jars inherently possess will be ironed-out in such a way that they are no longer the same complex jars who have the luxury of making their own choices.

The Council are not, “Gods” but clearly their abilities far transcend our own in ways that are far beyond us.

They are concerned about the life force that animates all living beings, themselves included, and they may have been entrusted with a duty to intervene in dire situations like ours out of compassion as well as sheer survival. “God is love.”

This is a compelling scenario

Mr. Wellborn and I applaud your skill and versatility in all the things of yours that I have read.

I hadn’t read but a few when you were the second Substack creator I subscribed to. Bravo and well done as usual.

RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED

I absolutely love this. I wish my husband were here for me to read it to, because we had discussions like this all the time. He would have loved it, too.

Phenomenal. It sounds to me like an argument being made in favor, or not, for the continued existence of mankind. The mistakes we made, the choices we had (or didn't have), and why we should be excused for our bad behaviors. We didn't know any better?

I've often thought humankind was a science experiment conjured up by a 12 year old alien who became disillusioned with his (or her?) project, and threw the whole shebang in the back of their cosmic closet, never to improved or played with again. Only forgotten by an advanced species and labeled a failed experiment.

But what an incredible article.

I have a vague idea of what this is all about.

I was unable to conjure a "vague" idea...sorry. I usually find Mr. Welborn's articles thought-provoking and precise. I just had a massage and am riddled with lassitude. That is my excuse, and I am sticking to it. Or...maybe this article is just too lofty for me to absorb and understand.
