We need a new Emoluments Clause. The ones that we have don't work. They were written long ago for an era that no longer exists. I know that amending the Constitution is a pain but it has to be done. I think that we can get to 2/3 & 3/4 on this issue. There would be lots of support on both sides of the aisle. In the meantime, IF the Dems regain control of Congress in November (actually 1/3/27, I guess) there is a lot they can do to clean up their own house.
I believe grifters like Kushner will have to be dealt with under different rules/statutes, as this clause concerns government employees. Unless the lawyers are somehow able to solidify his nebulous status in the Trump administration.
I don't understand why Kushner Senior and Pete Hoekstra, the US ambassador to Canada, haven't been declared Persona Non Grata by the leaders of France and Canada. Is it such a scandal that these two countries would put up with such disrespect from US representatives? Or is it the knowledge that Trump would just then appoint someone else equally as bad? I imagine that that's it. How embarrassing.
