People in the future won't believe that this person became president. Here in the present I still sometimes feel it to be unreal.

…arrogance leads to ignorance which breeds stupidity and brought this country down

…250 years old toddler country just bumped its head really hard and been introduced to an ancient concept of totalitarian rule

I know someone who lived in NY during Trump's RE/publicity days when the Donald had to phone the NYT, changing his voice and pretending to be someone else to get his name in the papers. The person I know still, to this day, has such venom when his name is mentioned and recounts the hatred people felt toward Trump in those days. I think we may be lucky enough within the next few years to see Trump's humiliation and downfall. Anyone want to place bets?

…Batman turned america into the movie, trump is a symptom not a cause, country where Superman and Batman are the national heroes and real ones are dying homeless on the streets

…this country was a shithole when they made prisons for profit, “healthcare” as the most lucrative business, where young people graduating and can’t find a appropriate job, but owe for this education leg and an arm…  should i continue?

…consumerism, political ignorance, religion and lack of proper education made this country a politically impaired nation

…it didn’t happened overnight, for decades the trick was to convince american liberals they still live in a democracy, while led them to the point of no return by pulling the rug under their feet, but they still don’t fucking get it

…we created the empire and now we have an emperor

Mitch McConnell appears to be equally friendless. It would be easy to see their lives as tragic, but both men ran roughshod over ethics, morals, friendships, and alliances to get and keep power and money. Like Graham, they won't be mourned, and many will celebrate.

Donald Trump has one friend who testified to that friendship under oath in Trump's New York fraud trial: Steve Witcoff. Steve said that he was Trump's friend, and if my memory serves, he added "a good one, I hope".

Steve explained that when his son died, Donald had called him. The friendship between these two "real estate developers" evidently dated from that call. (Steve's son apparently died of a drug overdose - something that was NOT mentioned in court.)

Witcoff had been called as an expert witness to explain valuation formulas for property conversions. But even that day, Donald threw his "good friend", the man testifying on Donald's behalf, under the bus.

Steve was explaining how a commercial building (40 Wall Street) is re-valued when it converts to a mixed-use residencial property.

Steve presented back then as a sane, knowledgable developer - so much so that I worried the case was in real trouble. Everything Witcoff said in his long and detailed explanation made sense and seemed to undermine the state's arguments about overvaluation of Trump properties to secure favorable loan terms.

Then came cross examination. Was Mr. Witcoff aware that the current conditions of the ground lease for 40 Wall Street prohibited comversion from commercial use to residential? He was not. His entire long valuation explanation was bullshit and Trump's inflated valuation that Witcoff was defending was fraudulent because it was based on a conversion that COULD NOT OCCUR and Donald had withheld that material fact from his "friend".

Evidently, Steve did not hold being utterly humiliated on the witness stand against his "good friend" Donald, and now said real estate developer friend Steve is a special government envoy, along with Trump's real estate developer son-in-law Jared, negotiating peace in Ukraine and an end to Donald's US-Iran-Israel clusterfuck.

And Steve's surviving son has gone into business with Donald's two oldest boys and the three of them are making bank hand over fist via One World Financial.

Sorry, that's World Liberty Financial, not One World Financial. It is hard for me to keep track of the names of their multitude of scummy cryptogrifts. Anyway, here's the Witkoff scion's Wikipedia page:

"Zach Witkoff (born May 21, 1993) is an American businessman who co-founded World Liberty Financial (WLF), a cryptocurrency firm co-owned by the Donald Trump family.[1][2][3] WLF has stirred controversy for multiple conflicts of interest controversies in relation to the Trump family.[4]

I also apologize for consistently misspelling Steve Witkoff's last name in my reply above.

Great piece, Tom, so entertaining and informative.

I have found myself actually feeling sorry for the man and saying I would never want to be in his shoes for all the money 💰 in the world.

But then my pity subsides when he does yet another hateful thing that makes me wish he was long gone. What a very sad excuse for a human being.

To have friends you have to be a friend. Trump uses people at opportune times then discards them like used Kleenex. Who needs friends like that?

Narcissistic sociopaths have no friends except those that they can mesmerize with their cries of plots and conspiracies. Research the history of Charles Manson and you will find the same insanity.

Donald Trump’s “friends” come with “use by” dates; don’t fret, these are mutual. There are 3 types: Those he hasn’t burned; those being burned; and those he’s burned but have arranged a press conference to explain why they’re back.

I’m going with, “What’s — way more kool-aid for $400 — Alex.” [sigh, miss him a lot]
